A Little More About Me
My decision to become a therapist comes from a lifetime of experiences... experiences that needed meaning in order to be worth going through.
The thing that pushed me toward pursuing education was wanting a different life than the one I started with. I wanted freedom from the cards I was handed. Education became a way to climb out of those experiences and channel them into something meaningful.
Today I bring both education and real-life experience into the work I do with clients. I understand that life doesn't always go the way we expect, and therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of things, and figure out what comes next.
One thing I want clients to know is that there's very little they could say in therapy that would shock or embarrass me. Life is complicated, and therapy is a place where people can talk honestly about what they've been through.
Life has a way of handing people experiences they never planned for, and my role is to support you as you work through whatever it is you're facing.
My Approach to Therapy
I approach therapy as a collaborative process. My role isn't to sit quietly and analyze you... it's to help you understand what's going on and why.
Many of the struggles people face start to make more sense when we look at the experiences and relationships that shaped them. Together we look at patterns, reactions, and relationship dynamics so that what once felt confusing or overwhelming begins to come into focus.
Sometimes therapy focuses on practical things, such as navigating a difficult situation, improving communication, or learning new ways to respond when stress or anxiety shows up. Other times the work goes deeper, like untangling the effects of trauma or past experiences that continue to shape the present. Often it's a combination of both.
In my work I draw from evidence-based approaches including EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relational work to help clients process difficult experiences and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. I also pay attention to intuition, meaning, and themes that emerge in dreams or personal experiences, as these can sometimes offer insight into what a person may be working through.
Therapy isn't about judgment or criticism. It's a place to slow down, think things through, connect with a therapist you trust, and begin making sense of what you're experiencing so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence.
