A Little More About Me

My decision to become a therapist comes from a lifetime of experiences that needed meaning in order to feel worth going through.

What first pushed me toward education was wanting a different life than the one I started with. I wanted freedom from the cards I was handed, and education became a way to climb out of those experiences and turn them into something meaningful.

Today, I bring both education and real-life experience into the work I do with clients. I understand that life does not always go the way we expect.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what has happened, and figure out what comes next.

One thing I want clients to know is that there is very little they could share in therapy that would shock or embarrass me. I get it. I understand.

We are all human, and life has a way of handing us experiences we never planned for. Therapy is a place where you can show up exactly as you are without fear of judgment or criticism.

I believe honesty is one of the foundations of healing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to talk honestly about your life, your relationships, your fears, and even the parts you may not like very much. I will meet you with compassion.

At the same time, I believe real growth sometimes requires the courage to gently challenge the patterns, beliefs, or protective strategies that may no longer be serving you.

Life has a way of handing people experiences they never planned for, and my role is to walk alongside you as you work through whatever you are facing.

My Approach to Therapy

I approach therapy as a collaborative process. My role is not to sit quietly and analyze you. It is to help you understand what is going on, why it is happening, and what you can do about it.

Many of the struggles people face begin to make more sense when we look at the experiences and relationships that shaped them. Together, we explore patterns, reactions, beliefs, and relationship dynamics so that what once felt confusing or overwhelming can begin to come into focus.

I do not believe therapy is about telling people what to do. My role is to help you develop a broader perspective on your experiences, understand the “why” behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and empower you to make decisions that align with the life you want to create.

Sometimes that means learning practical skills to manage the present. Other times, it means healing wounds from the past that continue to influence the present. Most often, it is a combination of both.

In my work, I draw from evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relational work, and other trauma-informed approaches to help clients process difficult experiences and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

I also pay attention to meaning, intuition, and the themes that emerge throughout a person’s story. While my work is grounded in research and evidence-based practices, I also recognize that healing can involve exploring purpose, values, and spirituality when those things are meaningful to the individual.

I believe every person has strengths, even when they cannot see them for themselves. My role is not to tell you who you are, but to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that trauma, anxiety, grief, or life experiences may have caused you to lose sight of.

Therapy is not about fixing you... because I do not believe you are broken. It is about understanding yourself more deeply, making sense of your experiences, and creating a life that feels more authentic, connected, and meaningful.

What I Value in Therapy

The qualities I strive to bring into every session are honesty, compassion, courage, perspective, and thoughtful insight.

I believe healing happens in relationships where people feel safe enough to be authentic, understood enough to feel less alone, and supported enough to explore the parts of themselves they may have avoided for years.

My role is not to have all of the answers. It is to walk alongside you, offer perspective when it is helpful, ask meaningful questions, and create a space where lasting change becomes possible.

Outside the Therapy Room

Outside of the therapy room, you will usually find me spending time in nature, caring for animals, baking sourdough, tending to my chickens and garden, or working on projects outside.

I am naturally curious about people, relationships, and the stories that shape our lives. I enjoy meaningful conversations, time with loved ones, wildflowers, and beachcombing whenever I get the chance.

I believe healing does not only happen in the therapy room. Sometimes it happens in quiet moments outdoors, through meaningful relationships, while caring for something living, or simply by slowing down long enough to reconnect with yourself.

Those same values are part of the way I approach my work with every client who walks through my door.
